The White Hart Hotel

We have stayed here multiple times as part of large family bookings, and on every previous occasion the experience has been exceptional. Unfortunately, due to apparent staffing issues, this particular stay was disappointing. We were visiting for a family funeral and, on arrival, only a few rooms were ready at the 2pm check-in time. We then waited around 30 minutes to be checked in, as the available staff were busy serving customers at the bar. The rooms themselves are incredibly well equipped — having an iron and ironing board was a real bonus. The showers are fantastic, the rooms were spotlessly clean, and it was easy to set the temperature; despite freezing conditions outside, the rooms were lovely and warm. However, despite leaving towels in the shower, we did not receive fresh towels on our second night. The evening food was okay, but a massive shout-out goes to the breakfast staff. We were a large group of around 30 people and ordered using both the app and the bar. Every meal was hot, quick, good value, and tasty. The free tea and coffee were also very welcome

One of my favorite 'Spoonies'. Rooms are nice, though a lot of stairs. Service consistently good over the years I've been coming here. Great if you can get the chairs by the open fire.

Mark and Lucia were very helpful and informative throughout our stay. Only feedback would maybe be the option to have non feathered pillows ... However great value and we would stay again.

Standard wetherspoon fayre. Great prices and lots of good options. Tables were dated but chairs were comfortable. Little haphazard-with what you got on your table- menus, salt etc. staff were friendly and knowledgeable. No parking but parking available closer by at Waitrose (payable) or other parking facilities.

Well it's a weatherspoons hotel, I held little hope out traveling for work staying here. However it is far better than any premiere inn, travel lodge. The hotel is unique & excellently done out. Yes the food & drink is a standard weatherspoons menu but you know what it was actually great value food & drink. Can't fault the place will definitely use again. Thanks

Stayed here one night while cycling the Devon Coast to Coast. Very friendly and helpful lady on reception. Room and bathroom were lovely and clean. Soft towels. Comfy beds. And complimentary hot drinks from the coffee machine downstairs. And best for cyclist is the 6 secure bike lockers at the back of the beer garden. Would definitely recommend.

Good selection of beers and food was ok. Staff were working really hard to provide best service on a very busy day. Price point was good for food and drinks.

I took my granddaughter to this Spoons, and it was beautiful, with amazing staff. We had a juice by the fireplace, then moved for our meal. A gentleman named Matt was extremely friendly, especially when helping get us a high chair for the nipper, and then helping with my fussy order. He even refilled my coffee for me so that I didn’t have to leave the little one, or take her with me. Matt also helped me with the menu, as my eyesight isn’t what it once was. He’s genuinely a credit to the Spoons team, a shining star! This is my second favourite Spoons, next to The Queen’s Head in Tavi, and well worth the extra time and bus fare to get here. Perfect service, thank you, Matt!
